The 3rd National Conference on Applied Research on Food Security, Processing, Safety and Health was hosted by the Research Institute of Food Science and Technology (RIFST) on October 16th, coinciding with the World Food Day.
At this conference, the keynote speakers, including Prof. Mohammad Ali Razavi, President of RIFST, Dr. Nabipour, Deputy Political Officer of the Governorate of Razavi Khorasan Province, Dr. Farrokh Toirov, FAO Representative in Iran, Dr. Pourjafari, Deputy Research Officer of the ETAKA Organization, and Dr. Javanmard, President of the Iranian Standards Research Institute, presented scientific perspectives and solutions for improving food security, safety, and quality of food products.
Dr. Farrukh Toirov, FAO Representative in Iran, emphasized the importance of scientific and regional cooperation and applied research in promoting the resilience of food systems, and Prof. Razavi highlighted the need to reduce food waste, reform consumption patterns, and promote optimal governance to achieve the goals of the National Food Security Document.
Referring to the standardization of food processing and safety, Dr. Javanmard explained the role of the Standards Research Institute in ensuring the quality and export of the country's products.
This conference included four specialized areas: the Health and Nutrition Panel, led by Dr. Mohsen Nemati, the Food Safety and Insecurity Panel, led by Dr. Monir Sadat Shakeri, the Technology and New Food Products Panel, led by Dr. Hadi Almasi, and the Food Security and Resilience of the Food Supply Chain in Critical Situations Panel, led by Dr. Mohammad Mehdi Bargharari. The conference concluded with a food security roundtable discussion centered on questions and answers.
